The Settings section lets you manage your personal account, security, subscription, and customize how Rentto works for you. What you see depends on your role — landlords and tenants have different options.
Accessing Settings
Click your profile icon in the sidebar and select Settings. Your settings page shows a header with your avatar (initials), name, role badge, company name, current plan, and last login time.

Profile
Available to all users. View and edit your personal information.

Click Edit profile to open the edit form. All fields are editable except Plan Type:

Security (Landlord Only)
Manage your password and account security.
Change Password
Only available if you signed up with email/password (not Google sign-in).

Each password field has a show/hide toggle (eye icon) to reveal the password text.
Click Update Password to save. If the current password is wrong, you'll see: "Current password is incorrect."
Two-Factor Authentication
Coming soon. Will support authenticator app integration.
Session Settings
Coming soon. Will allow configuring auto-logout after inactivity.
Danger Zone
Two destructive actions are available:
Sign Out All Devices
Logs you out from all active sessions across all devices. Useful if you suspect unauthorized access.
Disable Account
Permanently disables your account. To confirm, you must type "DISABLE" in the confirmation field. Your account can be reactivated later by contacting support through the Rentto Slack community.
Custom Categories / Taxonomies (Landlord Only)
Customize the categories used to classify your transactions.
Viewing Categories
The Taxonomies page shows a table with your category types. Click any row to expand and see the full category hierarchy as a tree structure.
Category groups include:
- Income categories — Rent, Security Deposit, Late Fees, etc.
- Expense categories — Organized by Admin, Maintenance, Utilities, Loans, Taxes
Generating Default Categories
If no categories exist yet, click Generate taxonomies to create the default category structure. This gives you the standard set of income and expense categories that appear in the transaction form.
Tree View
Categories are displayed as an expandable tree:
- Parent nodes can be expanded/collapsed with a caret icon
- Child nodes show individual category names
Membership (Landlord Only)
View your current usage and plan limits.
Usage Quotas
Four quota cards show how much of your plan you're using:

Subscribing
- If you don't have a subscription, click Subscribe Standard or Subscribe Premium to be redirected to the Stripe checkout page
- If you already have a subscription, click Manage Subscription to open the Stripe customer portal where you can update your payment method, view invoices, or cancel
Bank Accounts (Tenant Only)
If you're logged in as a tenant, the Settings section includes a Bank Accounts page for managing payment methods.
Security
Rentto uses Plaid to securely connect your bank account. Your banking credentials are never stored by Rentto — Plaid handles the connection directly with your bank.
By linking a bank account, you agree to the Plaid Privacy Statement and the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
Linking a Bank Account
- Click Link bank account
- A Plaid modal opens — select your bank and authenticate
- Choose the account you want to link
- Plaid securely connects your account to Rentto
Linked Accounts Table
After linking, your accounts appear in a table with:

Removing a Bank Account
Click the three-dot menu on an account row and select Delete. The bank account is disconnected from both Rentto and Stripe.
